Description

The Digital Services Group is seeking a full time Open Source Developer to assist in the creation and management of Open Source development platforms on the Scholastic.com site. These technologies include Drupal CMS (php), Magento eCommerce (php) and Ruby On Rails (Ruby).

Qualifications/Responsibilities
• Actively participate in the development activities for new sites and maintenance of existing sites.
• Work with other development staff and manage external vendors to guide development efforts
• Provide troubleshooting and application support for critical production issues.
• Create detailed documentation for support purposes

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Information Technology or related field; or an equivalent combination of skills, training and experience.
• Experience with PHP 5.2.x and 5.3.x. and Ruby 1.8-2.x.
• Experience with Drupal 6 and 7 including theming, module development, use of DRUSH and features module. Experience with Drupal performance optimization is desired.
• Experience with Mysql DBMS 5.0+, including writing advanced SQL queries and performance tuning.
• Experience with other MVC style frameworks (Sinatra, Zend, CakePhp, Codeignitor) desired
• Experience with MongoDB desired.
• Knowledge of Testing/QA processes, including automated front end and unit testing
• Experience with Magento eCommerce Community and Enterprise editions versions 1.5-1.7+.
• Experience with Ruby On Rails versions 2.x and 3.x
• Competent HTML/CSS/Javascript coding abilities - including the latest standards (HTML5, CSS3) and Web 2.0 / AJAX
• Experience using version control systems (svn, git)
• Experience with Unix operating system (Ubuntu, RedHat Linux)
• Strong written and oral communication skills - ability to write technical documentation.
